Bailiff. The agent of the lord of a manor, who collects his rents, etc.
Boon works. An unpaid service due by a tenant to his lord.
Bovate. An oxgang, or as much land as one ox could plough in a year; one-eighth of the carucate or ploughland; varying in amount from 10 to 18 acres according to the system of tillage, etc.
