Zuccaro doubtless came to England in March 1575, but was back in Italy by October; the duration of his stay was unknown in the 18th and 19th centuries, and hundreds of Elizabethan portraits were consequently attributed to him.

Philip Sidney (later Sir Philip Sidney; d. 1586), attrib., Certain notes concerning the state of the Prince of Orange and the Provinces of Holland and Zealand, as they were in the month of May, 1577.

The attribution of this text to Sir Philip Sidney (d. 1586), made by Kervyn de Lettenhove, Relations Politiques, IX, pp. 309-10, was rejected by A. Feuillerat in his edition of Sidney's Defence of Poesie, Political Discourses, Correspondence, Translations, Complete Works of Sir Philip Sidney, vol. III (Cambridge, 1923), p. v ("warranted by no evidence, either external or internal"), but was reasserted by J.M. Osborn.

Osborn noted that each of the three copies of the Certain notes "has some unique readings", so that "none of them is clearly descended from one of the others", and he concluded that "Sidney made three different reports, perhaps intended for three different recipients" [Young Philip Sidney, p. 532].
